2023 QB commit Raheim Jeter analysis

West Virginia added a QB early in the cycle for their 2023 recruiting class getting a commitment from South Carolina QB Raheim Jeter.

Jeter is given a 86 grade from 247sports and has a .8466 composite grade. He made the commitment official on his 17th birthday, choosing the Mountaineers over Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia and others.

“It’s good to know where I am going,” he said. “I am truly blessed and it is amazing. It is amazing to feel welcomed and loved by their staff. I can’t wait to get up there.”

Jeter is a big dual-threat QB at 6’3, 220 pounds and has a strong arm. The biggest question mark for him is his accuracy. He attended a WVU camp over the summer where he showed off his big arm but also his inconsistency. Still, he showed enough to walk away from the camp with an offer.

He has good footwork in the pocket, and unlike a lot of dual-threat QBs he does not look to run the first opportunity he gets. This allows him the chance to show off his arm on long developing plays.

Jeter said he likes the way West Virginia runs their offense and the fact that they play in the Big 12.

“That played a huge part,” Jeter said. “The Big 12 has quite a few good quarterbacks as well as some good competition as well, but I just like West Virginia’s offense a lot.

As a junior this previous season Jeter threw 30 TDs, 7 interceptions and almost 3,000 yards.

It makes sense that the year after signing a blue-chip QB prospect with Nicco Marchiol, the coaching staff would go out and get a high-risk, high-reward QB. They will have time to work with Jeter on his accuracy, while having a good QB in front of him and not having to throw him in early.
