WVU Debuts at No. 24 in USA Today Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 2, 2021) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (13-2, 7-2 Big 12) made its season debut at No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, announced Tuesday.

The Mountaineers received 79 points to make its first appearance in the poll this season. West Virginia is ranked behind No. 23 Missouri State and in front of No. 25 Georgia. WVU was last ranked in the Coaches Poll on Jan. 14, 2020, when it checked in at No. 18.

West Virginia is one of two Big 12 teams featured in this week’s poll. Baylor (12-2, 7-1 Big 12) received 574 points and ranks No. 8 this week.

Next up, West Virginia plays host to Iowa State on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. Opening tip against the Cyclones is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with Nick Farrell, Meg Bulger and Amanda Mazey on the call.
