It was not long ago that WVU had five verbal commits for the 2015 class from Miramar High School. But within the last month two of those commitments have indicated that they were looking for other options. Both Alex Anderson, 3 star RB, and Kendrell McFadden, 3 star safety, announced that although they were committed to WVU they had chosen to explore other options.
Now it seems a third commit from Miramar may be taking the same route as Anderson and McFadden. Kahlil Lewis recently stated in an interview with 247sports.com that his commitment to WVU was “soft”.
A “soft” commitment is defined as being a commitment in which the recruit will continue to take official visits. Though this is fairly common in the world of recruiting what causes analysts to take notice is when a firm commitment is downgraded to “soft”.
Lewis, a 3 star WR, plans to visit UCF on the 23rd of this month. However, UCF is not the competition for the Mountaineers. Lewis has made it known that Cincinnati and Louisville have the best chances of flipping him from the Mountaineers.
Lewis will be visiting Louisville on the 16th of this month and has already visited Cincinnati back in October. Kahlil does hold offers from both Louisville and Cincinnati. His visit to Louisville in the coming week may be the deciding factor. Lewis has been committed to WVU since January 8th of 2014.
