Big 12 Conference Tournament Basketball Final: Prediction

Shortly after Friday’s semifinals predictions were posted, it was announced that Kansas was backing out of the conference tournament due to COVID-19 protocol, automatically putting Texas in the conference tournament championship.

Game 9: No. 5 Oklahoma State vs. No. 3 Texas | 6 p.m. on ESPN

Oklahoma State vs. Texas:

Ethan Bock: There is absolutely no reason why Oklahoma State should lose today against Texas. They’re one of the hottest teams in America right now, and they’re getting hot at the right time. Longhorns should still give the Cowboys a fight but I see Avery Anderson, once again, showing up today and helping Cade Cunningham get some support. Mike Boynton is one of the best, quiet hires in the country! Pokes are going dancing and could even get a No. 2 seed, crazy!

OSU – 82 UT – 76

Ashley O’Brien: It’s obvious that the Oklahoma State Cowboys are trending upwards after the last two games and beating Baylor on Friday made it extremely clear that the Cowboys came to Kansas City not for barbecue, but for a conference tournament championship. The Texas Longhorns got extremely lucky Friday after Kansas backed out of their game. Not only did the Longhorns get a free pass, but they got something explicitly more valuable: a day to rest. This is going to be nothing short of a great game, with both teams playing at the top of their games. Despite the day off, Oklahoma State came to win and that’s just what they do.
