The first full week of Big 12 conference play featured plenty of ranked teams squaring off, including Kansas-Baylor, Oklahoma State-Texas, WVU-Iowa State, Kansas-Oklahoma State and WVU-Oklahoma.  The Jayhawks recorded a perfect 3-0 week to move to 14-2 and reside in their familiar perch atop the conference standings.  West Virginia became the first conference team to reach 15 wins (15-2) with Tuesday’s home court win over Oklahoma.  The biggest surprise of the week was Kansas State, who captured a road win over Oklahoma in Norman, in large part due to the efforts of conference player of the week Marcus Foster.

The Big 12 gave up its spot with the country’s best conference average RPI (refer to the conference RPI rankings below) to the Big East, but remains the top-rated “Power 5” conference in terms of RPI.

Big East                53.4

Big 12                    56.9

Big Ten                 67.6

SEC                         70.3

ACC                        72.1

PAC 12                  77.8

Key conference tilts this coming week include Kansas-at-Iowa State, WU-at-Texas and Oklahoma State-at-Oklahoma on Saturday and Oklahoma-at-Kansas on Tuesday.

We hope you like the slightly new format of the Big 12 Weekly Men’s Hoops Report this week.  We’ve added more statistics and expanded the coverage of each game, plus we’ve introduced more graphics.  Let us know how we can improve the weekly report even more and BGS will do its best to incorporate your suggestions.
