The West Virginia football coaching staff has stressed the importance of building a dominating future defense with the class of 2017 and they hosted what could be a huge piece to that puzzle yesterday in DE Brendan Bordner.
Bordner, 6’5 240 lbs. defensive end from Hilliard Bradley (OH), had been to the West Virginia campus in July but something stood out to him during this visit. “The overall atmosphere was great which was something that I didn’t get to experience my first time there.”
Aside from the atmosphere that the West Virginia faithful provided, Bordner walked away impressed with the results on the field. “It was a dominating game against a quality opponent which made the experience that much better for myself. I got to speak with Coach Gibson and Coach Tall about my role in their defense.”
With the coaching staff focusing on Bordner as their top priority, this weekend allowed the Mountaineers to take a huge step forward in his recruitment. “I had a great time and will be back on December 9th for an official visit.”
Bordner was named to the All-Ohio 2nd team and hasn’t disappointed during his senior season but won’t rush his decision. Bordner will make official visits to Cincinnati, Navy, and Rutgers along with another trip to Morgantown.
