Although former Mountaineer quarterback Clint Trickett has moved on with his coaching career, currently the quarterbacks coach at East Mississppi CC,  he still keeps close tabs on the WVU program, especially the quarterbacks.

Over time Clint has become a friend to BGS and we had the chance to talk to him about the state of the program and how he felt current starter Skyler Howard is progressing. Clint pointed out that he knows both Howard and Crest well, “we spent a lot of time together in the meeting rooms”, which doesn’t necessarily make him an expert on the current situation but definitely gives him inside knowledge to both.

When asked whether he felt a change was necessary Trickett made no qualms about his stance, “Skyler is still the guy”. He points out that he went through many of the same struggles early in his career at WVU and things will eventually “start clicking”.

Trickett also stated that Crest will get his chance in the future, “Will has progressed and will do great things in the future but right now Howard is the best option they have. I have full confidence in Skyler”.

Clint tries to keep in touch with Howard on a regular basis stating that he talked to him just days ago. And after speaking to him he feels Skyler hasn’t changed,  “I don’t see where Skyler is wavering one bit, he is a very emotional person but he is still confident”.
