Clint Trickett to take coaching job at FAU

Earlier this off-season, we reported that Mountaineer quarterback-turned coach was leaving East Mississippi Community College of Netflix’s famed documentary Last Chance U. Coach Trickett was being hired as a graduate assistant at the University of Alabama under head coach Nick Saban. Now the coach is on the move again, heading further south to Florida Atlantic University to take on the role of tight ends coach.

Trickett was at East Mississippi for two years, where he first started his career as a quarterbacks coach for the now famed junior college. Not only did Trickett coach at the school, he also appeared in several episodes of the Netflix docu-series and will likely be seen in season two upon its release.

Trickett was hired on at Alabama less than a month ago, with many reports stating that he could possibly been hired to help the Alabama Crimson Tide prepare for next season’s opener versus Trickett’s former team and his father, Coach Rick Trickett at Florida State.

Coach Trickett will be joining the FAU staff that has new leadership in former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. While many felt that a move to Alabama was a great next step for the young coach, having a spot as a positions coach instead of a graduate assistant role is great for the coaching resume.

This upcoming season will be Trickett’s third year of coaching and we can all hope but nothing for the best for the once starting quarterback for the Mountaineers . . . and that the coach may one day wear the old gold and blue as a coach.
