Morgantown, W.VA. – Following Saturday’s scrimmage head coach Neal Brown met with the West Virginia media via Zoom. The head coach was coming off of the team’s second full-team scrimmage and was followed up by Darius Stills and TJ Simmons on the Zoom.
After the scrimmage, Brown was quick to point out that the team’s scrimmage was longer than the week prior, with the defense starting off strong and continuing to improve against the run. The offense was still struggling to find productivity from the top of the red zone to the 10-yard line.
Brown pointed out that he could see a big improvement from his team in Saturday’s scrimmage versus the week prior. He also went to explain that the scrimmage had Power 5 referees on the field in Morgantown and his team committed “way too many penalties,” and struggling on special teams; which is an area his team needs to make their edge this coming season.
The Mountaineers’ pre-camp depth chart was released in the team’s virtual media guide earlier last week; with Brown pointing out that a final depth chart will be released closer to the Eastern Kentucky game.
Following Brown on Zoom were Darius Stills and TJ Simmons who both briefly addressed the media for about 5 to 10 minutes each.
