The Big 12 Conference released its preseason media poll this morning preceding the start of Big 12 media days which begins July 18th. The schools among the top should come as no surprise as the Sooners took the top spot again coming off the conference’s first College Playoff birth. Of 26 possible first place votes the Sooners received 24.
Continuing down the list TCU comes in at a close second and receiving the other two first place votes. The Frogs are followed by Oklahoma State and then surprisingly Baylor. This, however, is where it could get discouraging for West Virginia fans.
The Mountaineers have come in at number seven this preseason behind Texas and Texas Tech. Despite finishing fifth in the Big 12 last and returning what could potentially be one of the most potent offenses in the conference the Mountaineers come only ahead of Kansas State, Iowa State, and Kansas.
