MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–The Mountaineers football team has a new familiar face returning to the roster this spring. William Crest has returned to West Virginia as a wide receiver. Crest transferred from West Virginia in January and is now set to return to the university and football program.

Crest received a medical redshirt in 2014,  and played in 11 games for the Mountaineers in 2015 in both roles of quarterback and running back. Crest will now take on the role of wide receiver as he returns for the 2017 season.

On a related roster change, wide receiver Steven Smothers is no longer with the football program. The redshirt freshman was at one point absent from the team’s spring roster due to academic issues.
