MORGANTOWN, W.Va–David Long Jr. was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 188th pick in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
In his junior season, the 5-foot-11, 221-pound linebacker started all 12 games at West Virginia. He led the Mountaineers with 111 tackles while averaging 9.3 per game.
Long also led WVU in sacks with eight and tackles for loss (19). He led the team with 76 solo tackled.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native isn’t known for his size but for his determination and grit. He had a knack for finding opponents’ quarterbacks.
In 2018, Long earned All-America Second-Team honors by AP, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Athlon Sports, Phil Steele and The Athletic. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year (Coaches, AP) and to the All-Big 12 First Team (AP, Coaches, Phil Steele).
Long was also a Butkus Award semifinalist.
