Defensive lineman leaves program

Just two weeks after arriving at WVU junior college transfer Brandon Lawless has left the program. Lawless came to WVU via Los Angles Valley College.

Lawless’ departure comes on the heels of the Mountaineers removing defensive end Larry Jefferson from the program after his arrest for possession of marijuana and cocaine back in late July. The Mountaineers are also without Xavier Pegues who had off-season shoulder surgery (due back in October) and Jaleel Fields who is sidelined this season with a knee injury.

This leaves the Mountaineers with only four upperclassmen on the defensive line in Darrien Howard, DJ Carozza, Noble Nwachukwu, and Christian Brown. Lawless was not listed on WVU’s most recent two-deep depth chart although he was expected to see some time given the Mountaineers rash of recent injuries.
