WVU has made it known that it intends to improve it’s defense with the 2017 class. But the class of 2018 could give the Mountaineers a big boost, especially with today’s news that CB Kalon Gervin has WVU at the top of his recruitment.
Gervin, 5’11 175 lbs. cornerback from Cass Technical (MI) , sees a big opportunity at WVU, which is why the Mountaineers are at the top of his recruitment. “The education that I would receive at WVU is the most important thing to me but the chance to play early along with the defensive scheme are the biggest reasons why I favor WVU right now.”
Gervin has the chance to play multiple positions at the next level but Tony Gibson sees him at one position specifically. “Coach Gibson wants to keep me at cornerback in the nickel role.” Gervin would provide West Virginia with a young cornerback that has the tools and skill set to grow into a very special player for Coach Gibson.
Gervin holds over 25 offers including ones from California, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. But as of now the 4 star athlete has the Mountaineers on top with a visit planned for December 3rd.
