As the NBA Finals are slated to tip-off on Thursday night, the rest of the teams in the league are doing their due dilligence in auditioning draft hopefuls. WVU’s Devin Williams is one of them, and he is racking up the frequent flyer miles.
Through our Brandon Lowe, host of the Brandon Lowe Show on 95 The Sports Fox in Charleston, and other sources, we have learned most of where Williams has traveled.
On Wednesday, Williams worked out for the Chicago Bulls. “Chicago, I like it man,” he told Lowe.
This was his eighth workout. He has also met with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. When we learn the other three teams, we’ll be sure to pass that along to you.
Tomorrow, he heads to South Beach for pro day with the Miami Heat.
Next week, Brandon Lowe plans on having Williams on his show on possibly Tuesday. If you can’t tune in, we’ll have the podcast on our site shorty thereafter.
At 6’9″ Williams wasn’t considered an explosive player, despite his impressive physique. During these pre-draft rounds, he will need to show teams that he can play a little bigger than his size. His offensive game showed growth during his time in Morgantown. He’s a blue-collar worker who will do what his team needs him to do on the NBA level.
He might be a shorter Kendrick Perkins, but with a more refined offensive game.
We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with the latest on Williams travels as we lead up to the NBA Draft on June 23, 2016.
