Fall Camp Days Away for Mountaineer Football

Morgantown, W.VA. – The 2021 college football season is just around the corner and the West Virginia Mountaineers are roughly two weeks away from opening up their fall camp. A fall with full capacity stadiums, tailgates, more fans traveling; all of that is just weeks away as the summer bleeds into the first signs of football.

For football fans, the last portion of July and August either fly by or drag on. In a few short weeks, photos from camp will start to hit the internet, season predictions and previews start coming out in droves, and even more speculation on ‘do we have a solid quarterback’ and ‘what will our defense do’ become near constant questions.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 6-4 season during Head Coach Neal Brown’s sophomore season. Undefeated at home and winless on the road minus the bowl game, it’s evident to most everyone one of the biggest hurdles the Mountaineers will face in 2021: winning on the road. The Big 12 is home to some very difficult stadiums and crowd, making road game victories a crucial piece to a successful season puzzle.

Fall camp is the first glimpse of off-season improvement since spring practice and the spring game. Over the first few weeks of August, the team’s structure will start to take a firm shape as the pre-season depth chart becomes more finalized leading up to September 4th’s season opener at Maryland.
