MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – (October 3rd, 2020) — After the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament was moved from the Bahamas to South Dakota, the Duke Blue Devils left the tournament.
On Friday night, it was announced that the Dayton Flyers will replace the Blue Devils in Sioux Falls in the Battle 4 Atlantis field.
The current Atlantic-10 champions join the field of West Virginia, Creighton, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah, Memphis, and Wichita State.
Now we have a final field set for the tournament, and now we will just have to wait and see who the Mountaineers match up with first.
As of October 3rd, West Virginia’s confirmed non-conference games are:
- 3 of: Creighton, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah, Memphis, Wichita State, and Dayton (Sioux Falls)
- @Georgetown (Big East-Big 12 Challenge)
- A SEC team (Big 12/SEC Challenge)
Since WVU is playing in a MTE (Multi-Team Event), the Mountaineers can play a maximum of 27 regular season games before the tournament. If you do the math, you have 18-Big 12 games, three games in South Dakota, Big East Challenge, SEC Challenge. That’s 23 games.
That leaves Huggins and his staff to schedule four more games at most for the 2019-2020 basketball schedule.
