Football Announces Mid-Year Signee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen has announced the signing of Larry Jefferson to a national letter of intent and athletic grant-in-aid for the spring 2015 semester.

Played for coach Sean Cannon at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Miss. … registered 35 tackles as a sophomore, including 20 unassisted and three tackles for loss … finished with five or more tackles in three games … collected 10 stops, including six solo and one tackle for loss against Holmes CC … as a freshman, he compiled 32 tackles, including 21 unassisted tackles, 5.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles … three-star defensive end prospect by Rivals, Scout, 247Sports and ESPN … No. 28 on the Rivals Junior College Postseason Top 100 … No. 8 Junior College defensive end according to ESPN … also offered by California, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Missouri and USF … previously played for Edward Gosa at Banneker High … selected first team all-state in 2011 … recorded more than 400 receiving yards and 13 sacks as a senior … caught 15 passes for 300 yards and a pair two touchdowns as a junior, while adding 64 tackles with six sacks and two safeties on defense … standout on the basketball court … ran the 200-meter and 400-meter events in track.
