For Damon Johnson, it only took one visit

damon-johnson3951The West Virginia Football team received a commitment yesterday from a long snapper which isn’t normally a position that is recruited very actively. However, Damon Johnson is a special talent that will be a very useful piece for the Mountaineers.

Johnson was a visitor this past weekend for his first trip to Morgantown and fell in love instantly. “I loved how the city is all in for WVU and the fan base all around is just incredible. The facilities and the campus are top of the line.” A trip to Morgantown isn’t a very convenient trip for Johnson, coming from California, but it was something that he has been looking forward to since the offer was extended from Joe DeForest.

After Johnson got on campus he continued to be impressed but there was a few things that made his decision easier, “When I got to meet the coaching staff and the players especially John DePalma, the current WVU long snapper. Once I experienced that I knew that WVU was where I wanted to play at.”

Even though there was some speculation that Johnson could be moved, that won’t happen. “The coaches see me at just the long snapper position once I get to Morgantown.” That isn’t necessarily a bad thing either considering Johnson is rated as one of the top long snappers in the entire country.
