Former Mountaineer John Means Throws No-Hitter

Former West Virginia University pitcher John Means threw a no-hitter versus the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, May 6.

Means, pitches for the Baltimore Orioles, and this is the first no-hitter for the Orioles since July 13, 1991, and the first complete game no-hitter since Jim Palmer threw his on August 13, 1969.

Means finished his day with 12 strikeouts, and the only baserunner was allowed on a wild pitch to the Mariners Sam Haggerty that allowed him to reach.

Means attended West Virginia in 2013 and 2014, while finishing with a 3.24 ERA in 25 games.
