The 7-1 West Virginia Mountaineers return to action Wednesday night after suffering their first loss of the 2019 season on Saturday. The Mountaineers fought hard in a back and forth affair with the St. John’s Red Raiders, but ultimately lost the game by two points.

Matchup to watch: The big matchup to watch in this contest is can the West Virginia defense slow down the high-scoring Austin Peay offense. Currently, Austin Peay is averaging almost 81 points per game, one of the best averages in all of college basketball. West Virginia has had a stellar defensive start to the season, giving up an average of just 64 points a game to their opponents. In all four games that the Governors have won, they have scored at least 81 points. In their four losses, they have scored more than 72 points just once. The Mountaineers, on the other hand, have given up more than 75 points just twice this season. If West Virginia can hold the Governors under 75 points, they have a good shot at winning this game.
Picks to click: Austin Peay: Antwuan Butler West Virginia: Jordan McCabe
For the Governors, Antwaun Butler has done a little bit of everything for their team. He has scored at least eight points in all but three of their games, recorded at least three rebounds in all but two games, and recorded three or more assists in all but one game. Simply put, he does it all. Butler’s offensive ability not just scoring but passing the ball is a big reason that Austin Peay is scoring so many points.
I have been saying it for weeks, Jordan McCabe is going to have a breakout game in the near future, and I believe tonight will be that night. Against a team that is not great defensively, the Mountaineers will be able to open up their bench. I think McCabe gets some solid minutes and makes a big impact tonight.
