Geno Smith and Shaq Riddick return to practice

Thus far in the NFL Preseason, we have seen five Mountaineers miss time due to injuries. On Monday, two returned.

After the punch heard ’round the NFL, Geno Smith returned to Jets’ practice on Monday. Team doctors cleared him for some light jogging and throwing. Head coach Todd Bowles said “it was good to see his face.”

After having surgery to fix his broken jaw, Smith is expected to miss a further five to nine weeks.

Arizona Cardinals rookie Shaq Riddick missed much of the summer workouts and suffered a Grade 2 hamstring early on in training camp. He was out three weeks before returning to the practice field on Monday.

“Anxious to see some of these young guys, especially Shaq,” head coach Bruce Arians said.

The team is off Tuesday, but will resume practice on Wednesday.

The three other WVUPros with injuries have been Kevin White (shin), Ryan Mundy (hip) and Joe Madsen (concussion). Madsen was released last week by Cleveland.
