Geno Smith Named NFL’s Worst QB

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith can’t stop laughing.

Until today… Then he decided to laugh a little more.

When the Jets reported to training camp on Wednesday, Smith seemed to be in a good mood until the topic of the worst quarterback in the league was mentioned.

You can imagine the mood fell off a little bit from here.

Smith was asked about a recent ESPN insiders poll that had the quarterback listed 32nd in the NFL.

“I laughed at it,” said Smith, clearly ticked off by the designation. “It’s hilarious. It is.”

It might be funny to Smith, but he was listed last on this same poll last season.

But Smith kept laughing.

“It was hilarious last year too,” Smith said, according to the New York Daily News.

Some may say that Smith’s time to this point has been laughable, especially to those diehard fans in New York. But in all fairness, the Jets haven’t been a bright spot either with coaching changes, new coaches giving mixed signals, assistants talking for the head coach.

But then again, it is New York, and Smith would rather focus on the team.

“It doesn’t matter at this point,” Smith said. “We’ve got to work on us as a team. That’s why I hate to talk about individual stuff, because it’s a team game. No matter what they rate, wherever we finish at the end of the year is most important.”

The ESPN poll was made up of general managers, head coaches and coordinators.

Through 30 games, Smith has thrown for 5,571 yards with 25 touchdowns and 34 intercepts. His completion percentage is 57.5% with a rating of 71.5.
