MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (November 10, 2021) – West Virginia University golf coach Sean Covich has announced the signing of Kaleb Wilson to a national letter-of-intent for the 2022-23 academic year.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Wilson was the 2020 Tennessee Golf Association Junior Player of the Year and was the 2020 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division II-A State individual champion with rounds of 70-72 for a 2-under-par total. Wilson was the 2021 TSSAA Division II-A individual runner-up. Wilson attends the Christian Academy of Knoxville, where he has led them to four high school state titles.
Wilson has garnered other numerous awards during his prep career: 2020 and 2021 regional individual champion … 2020 and 2021 Men’s Club champion (youngest in 113-year history of the club) at Cherokee Country Club … 2019 and 2020 5-Star Preps Golfer of the Year … 2019 and 2020 Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State Golf Team Award … youngest player to qualify and make the 60-man cut in the 2020 Tennessee Men’s State Amateur … 2020 Sneds Tour Player of the Year … named to the Tennessee Junior Cup in 2020 and 2021 … 2019 Prep-Extra Knoxville Golfer of the Year … 2018 and 2019 district individual champion.
“Kaleb has accomplished a lot in his junior golf career,” Covich said. “His game is solid all-around, from the tee, to his iron play to his touch around the greens. There’s a lot to like about Kaleb’s game and his ability to score. We are excited to be adding a player of his caliber to our roster next season. Not only will he achieve success on the golf course, he will be a strong student in the classroom.”
