Grad Transfer Kicker/Punter Commits to WVU

Troy, Alabama – It’s a broken record to talk about West Virginia’s head coach Neal Brown coming to Morgantown from his tenure as the head coach at Troy in Alabama. Sunday evening. one of Brown’s former Troy Trojans used Twitter to announce something making him an instant fan favorite in Morgantown.

Troy’s kicker/punter Tyler Sumpter committed to West Virginia as a graduate transfer.

Sumpter entered the transfer portal early January with one year of immediate eligibility after having been Troy’s primary kicker and punter over the last three seasons. Sumpter was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference third team as a punter in 2018 and 2019.

After the creative announcement on Twitter, it’s clear Morgantown will have another creative kicker/punter on their hands, much like media-maven Pat McAfee has turned out to be.

Welcome to Morgantown, Tyler!
