West Virginia men’s basketball head coach Bob Huggins (who really needs no introduction) was recently a guest on the March Madness 365 podcast with Andy Katz. Huggins was asked to break down his top players in ten categories over the course of his collective 29 years coaching between Cincinnati (16) and West Virginia (13).
The podcast can be found here.
Huggins has had his fair share of stars between his time with the Bearcats and the Mountaineers, many names are still brought up in conversation today.
When asked to name a player for ten categories, one player accounted for four of the ten categories: the great Kenyon Martin. Martin is easily one of Huggins’s most beloved players he’s coached. Martin’s ability on the court accounted for so much success with the Bearcats.
The categories asked of Huggins: the Athletic Wonder, the Coach, the Captain, the Glue Guy, the Quarterback, the Clutch Gene, the Shooter, the Bucket Getter, the Lockdown Defender and the Dirty Worker
The remaining six players Huggins chose were the following: Nick Van Exel, Da’Sean Butler, Tony Bobbitt, Denny Fortson, Jevon Carter, and Devin Williams.
