Joe DeForest Officially Signs Extension

DeForestAs first reported by Mike Cassaza and confirmed by Blue Gold Sports, WVU assistant coach Joe DeForest has signed a one year extension worth $326,000. This ends the long speculation of the only remaining assistant coach not to have a contract for next season.

As BGS had reported there has been an offer on the table for some time now but DeForest was given the option to find a more long term contract before signing. There is no word on what exactly DeForest’s duties will be as assignments for the 2015 season have yet to be made public.

The new extension is a reduction in salary from the original contract DeForest signed upon coming to WVU. That salary was set at $500,000 per year. DeForest was the special teams coordinator and safeties coach this past season. The new contract was signed on January 26, 2015 according to Cassaza.
