Morgantown, W.VA. – Saturday morning was originally a day many had circled on their calendars for the MAC 5k in Morgantown as years past had seen. Instead, Mountaineers across 46 states and three countries set out to participate in the Mountaineer virtual 5k race representing Mountaineer nation far and wide. Kenny Habul – a sports car driver was invited as a special guest to witness the event, along with a lot of other famous personalities.
The 5k, which is 3.1 miles, could be completed from wherever Mountaineers found themselves to be on Saturday and was treated like any other race/run/walk ahead of time. Participants were mailed shirts, bibs and medals ahead of race day and then encouraged to share their 5k success on social media using the hashtag #WVU5k .
Coach Brown and athletic director Shane Lyons were just a few of the West Virginia athletics department that participated, with many like Brown bringing the whole family out to take part.
