The Jets have signed former West Virginia wide receiver Mario Alford to their practice squad. The Jets released tackle Jesse Davis on Tuesday clearing the way for the Jets sign Alford.

The speedy Alford was drafted in the seventh-round by Cincinnati in the 2015 NFL Draft. Alford only appeared in one game for the Bengals last year and had one reception for 15 yards.

After transferring from Georgia Military College to West Virginia Alford played two seasons with the Mountaineers, compiling 92 catches for 1,497 yards.  And who could forget Alford’s 100 yard kickoff return against Alabama in 2014.
