LAS VEGAS–Former West Virginia basketball standout Miles “Deuce” McBride made his NBA summer league debut for the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard had nine points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in New York’s 89-79 loss to the Toronto Raptors.
Obi Toppin led the Knicks with 24 points. Former Texas star Jericho Sims had 12 and Immanual Quickly 15.
McBride’s first basket came midway through the first quarter off a mid-range jumper.
Defensively, McBride had a solid game. With under six minutes to go in the first quarter, Malachi Flynn beat the rookie off the dribble but McBride recovered and helped down the block and force the miss.
McBride didn’t start the game but saw significant playing time, playing nearly 26 minutes.
The Knicks return to action Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:00 p.m. on ESPN2
