MLB weekly roundup

Jedd Gyorko-It was a rather unusual week for this former Mountaineer. On Wednesday, the third baseman moved to the pitcher’s mound in the ninth inning of Milwaukee’s 12-2 loss to the Twins. He gave up a leadoff single to Twins catcher Mitch Garver but Gyorko retired Ehire Adrianza on a popup, Alex Avila on a lineout and Eddie Rosario on a lazy fly to left field to end the inning. The previous night, Gyorko hit a tiebreaking home run in eighth inning to lift the Brewers past the Twins. Gyorko finished the week with a .240 batting average.

Ryan McBroom-McBroom is riding a four-game hitting streak this week, including a double and two RBIs. The first baseman has raised his batting average to .316.

John Means-For most of the week, Means was still on the bereavement list for Baltimore after the passing of his father. However, he returned on Sunday afternoon for his scheduled start. In his first start back against the Nationals, Means last just 0.2 of the first inning. He gave up three runs on four hits and walked one. The left-hander has an ERA of 10.57 this season.
