Green Bay, WI. – Former Mountaineer fullback signed a reserves/futures contract with the Green Bay Packers on Monday.
Wellman was previously on the Washington Redskins roster after being signed as an undrafted free agent during the 2018 NFL Draft.
Wellman played in 51 games as a Mountaineer and making it to the NFL was a dream of the fullback. During his time at West Virginia, Wellman won the Ed Pastilong award; given to players who show excellent work ethic both on and off the football field.
Wellman was known as a consummate team player when wearing the Old Gold and Blue and will take that team-first mentality with him to his new team in Wisconsin. Wellman is currently the only Mountaineer on the Packers roster and will hope to gain experience in Green Bay moving forward.
