MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Fellow West Virginian and country music star Brad Paisley made an appearance in Morgantown last November when “Tent City” played host to ESPN’s College GameDay.
Today, Paisley released his newest music video for the song Country Nation. In the video, dozens of college football mascots made appearances including the Alabama Crimson Tide elephant, the Oregon Duck, the LSU Tiger, and, of course, the one and only Mountaineer.
“The shoot was fantastic,” said Michael Garcia, the man behind the buckskins. “Everyone was so professional and having 20+ mascots in the same place was so fun! Brad (Paisley) is a true Mountaineer. I was proud to represent WVU.”
Paisley wore a ‘house-divided’ style football jersey in the video, half of which imitated an old gold and blue West Virginia jersey while the other half represented the Tennessee Volunteers, another team close to his heart.
Garcia, entering his second year as the Mountaineer mascot, expects this football season to be packed with lots of victories. He’s prepared to sing Country Roads and do as many push-ups as possible.
“I am ecstatic for Saturday. I expect to do plenty of push-ups. I’m coming prepared with lots of powder and caps (for the musket) and I expect to use them,” he said.
“We expect to be champions. At WVU, we climb the to the highest peak or we do not climb at all. I hope the nation is ready to see what WVU has in store this year,” said Garcia.
The Mountaineers kick of the 2015-16 season this Saturday, September 5 at Milan Puskar Stadium against the Georgia Southern Eagles.
