WVU continued to build it’s 2016 late this evening with a commit for DB Jacob Long which is surprise considering Long was committed to Purdue until tonight.
Long, 6’0 180 lbs. cornerback from Hamilton Township (OH) had recently visited Ohio State to attend their summer camp and many figured that he would soon be reopening his recruitment but a flip to WVU was unexpected. Long was on the WVU campus this past weekend for a visit and walked away very impressed with what the Mountaineers have to offer, especially to defensive players.
Long committed to Purdue on June 9th but had since made a couple visits this summer to WVU and Ohio State on two different occasions, Ultimately he felt that the Mountaineers were the best fit for him.
Long held offers from Ball State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Purdue, Toledo, and Virginia with WVU instate rival Marshall also showing interest in the talented prospect. Long will provide the Mountaineers some much depth in the secondary for next season and his commitment continues to build the WVU 2016 class.
