The West Virginia football coaching staff continue it’s overhaul on the defensive side of the ball in the 2017 class with today’s commitment of LB/DB Kenny Robinson.
Robinson, 6’2 190 lb. hybrid defender from Imani Christian (PA), brings versatility to the Mountaineers 3-3-5 scheme which will allow Robinson to see early playing time for Tony Gibson. In addition to being an elite defender, Robinson has also played WR during his high school career but will switch to the full time defense at WVU.
Robinson figures to be a key piece to the Mountaineers 2017 class given what he will bring to the defense. Robinson will be used as a DB primarily but gives Tony Gibson the ability to use him at the LB position if needed. The addition of Robinson gives the Mountaineers and Tony Gibson a very impressive core of defenders that is being built through the 2016 and 2017 class.
Robinson transferred from University Prep to Imani Christian for his senior season after recording 18 catches for 287 yards and 5 touchdowns in only 2 games before suffering a torn Achilles and missing the remainder of the season.
