Mountaineers Announce Uniforms for True Blue Game

The 4-6 West Virginia Mountaineers have announced their uniforms for the upcoming game against Texas, and it’s no surprise.  With the “true blue” theme for the game, the team will wear blue helmets, blue jerseys, and blue pants.

The “all blue” look is a common one for WVU, as it typically gets on the field once a year or so.

Here are the most recent times the Mountaineers have worn this combination:

  • 2020 AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Army (USA Helmets) (24-21 WVU)
  • 2020 vs. Baylor (27-21 WVU 2OT)
  • 2019 vs. Texas Tech (USA Helmets) (38-17 Texas Tech)
  • 2018 vs. TCU (47-10 WVU)
  • 2017 vs. Oklahoma State (50-39 Oklahoma State)

The three most notable games in recent memory that come to mind where WVU wore “all blue” are as follows:

  • 2014 vs. TCU (31-30 TCU)
  • 2011 vs. Pitt (21-20 WVU)
  • 2005 vs. Louisville (46-44 Louisville 3OT)
