Morgantown, W.VA. – Following West Virginia’s home win over TCU last week, two Mountaineers were among the Big 12 conference’s top award winners following week ten’s games.
Wide receiver TJ Simmons earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week following the win. Safety Tykee Smith earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Both Simmons and Smith were integral in the win versus the Horned Frogs as the Mountaineers remain undefeated at home in Morgantown for the 2020 season. Simmons led West Virginia’s receivers with 90 yards and two touchdowns. Smith intercepted a TCU ball on the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter, marking his second interception of the season.
Smith’s interception was run back for 42 yards, making it the longest interception of the season. Smith’s interception also stopped a TCU touchdown, which in turn marked the first game West Virginia did not allow a touchdown in since 2018.
The Mountaineers are on a bye this week before playing their final home game of the season, playing host to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, November 28.
