Mountaineers in the NFL Week 13

While there was a wide spread of professional football played over this past weekend, there were some former Mountaineers who helped contribute in their team’s performance in week 13.

Tavon Austin – Jacksonville Jaguars WR

Austin was active in Jacksonville’s stumble to the Rams on Sunday, making a lone reception for nine yards in the Jags 37-7 loss. The former Mountaineer wide receiver was targeted by quarterback Trevor Lawrence only twice with one of them resulting in a completion. It was Austin’s seventh game being active for the Jaguars after beginning his season on September 30 at Cincinnati. Through that span the receiver has made 10 receptions for 106 yards and a lone touchdown against the Falcons last week.

Mark Glowinski – Indianapolis Colts OL

Glowinski started in the Colts dominating route of the Texans on Sunday afternoon, 31-0. The guard was able to block in front of a backfield that produced 234 rushing yards mainly behind the running of Jonathan Taylor. The Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, native has also started in 11 games this year and has seen action in all 13 of Indianapolis’ matchups.

Bruce Irvin – Chicago Bears LB

West Virginia linebacker of the past Bruce Irvin played in his first game of the 2021 season on Sunday, and collected a tackle in the Bears victory over the Cardinals. Irvin used to patrol Mountaineer defensive territories before he was drafted by the Seahawks in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Chicago is Irvin’s fifth stop on his professional football journey — also playing in Seattle, Atlanta, Carolina and Oakland.

Quinton Spain – Cincinnati Bengals OL

Spain was a main contributor on Cincinnati’s offensive line during their loss to the Chargers in week 13. The guard helped Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow throw for 300 yards and a touchdown through four quarters against Los Angeles. Spain has started in 12 games this season and serves a versatile role on the Bengals offensive line for Burrow as well as running back Joe Mixon.

Kyzir White – Los Angeles Chargers LB

White really stuck out in his Chargers stomping of the Bengals on Sunday collecting a team high 11 tackles and making seven solo stops in the team’s 19-point victory. The linebacker also hauled in a tackle for a loss in his 12th game played of the season. The former Mountaineer has brought in a total of 86 tackles, 56 solo stops as well as a sack and two interceptions through 10 games of the 2021 season.
