MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – (February 23, 2021) – On Monday evening, the West Virginia men’s basketball team received their first commitment for the 2022 class in Josiah Davis. Davis announced his verbal commitment on Metro News’ Citynet Statewide Sportsline.
Davis is currently a junior at Teays Valley Christian in Teays Valley, West Virginia. The high school guard commented on his commitment on Metro News.
“The last couple of weeks, I’ve been talking to my parents and my coaches, and a lot of my mentors, and we sat down and had a serious conversation,” Davis said. “We just went through the checkbox and checked off all the decisions on where I fit right and fit best, and we came to the decision that I will be attending West Virginia University.”
Other than an offer from WVU, Davis received an offer from Stetson.
Davis’ current coach, Travis Tarr, commented on his player, which should get Mountaineer fans excited.
“I’ve had a lot of people tell us he reminds us of West Virginia point guards. He’s extremely strong, physical and wants to get up in you,” Tarr said. “He will pressure you 94-feet if he needs to and is somebody that wants to be coached hard.”
