The WVU coaching staff just finalized one of the top classes that Mountaineer Nation has seen in a long time but they aren’t stopping there. WVU has extended an offer to 2017 WR Daewood Davis this evening, who is considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the state of Florida.
Davis, 6’2 175 lbs. of Somerset Academy (FL), is currently committed to Syracuse and has been since last June. However, that has not hindered schools from pursuing him. Davis’ 4.3 40 speed at the wide receiver position would be huge in the Mountaineers spread offense. Davis likes the success that WVU has to offer with wide receivers. “They are very well known for developing wide receivers. It’s a dream offer to me.”
While the Mountaineers success with wide receivers is well documented, it’s not the only thing that makes WVU appealing to Davis. “Just waking up to seeing the sunrise through those mountains would be a wonderful site.” Even though the Mountaineers offer is just a few hours old, Davis is planning a visit to WVU at some point but isn’t sure just when that will take place.
Pulling Davis away from Syracuse will be tough considering how long he has been committed to the Orange. But WVU has the offense that could appeal to Davis.
