Mountaineers On The Road Again for Series At ETSU

The West Virginia University Mountaineers (4-6, 0-0) travel to Johnson City, TN. this weekend for a 3-game weekend series against the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers (7-3, 0-0).

ETSU is coached by Tony Skole, who picked up his 400th win with the school this past Tuesday in a victory over Radford. Skole is in his 16th season at ETSU. Skole is a 1991 graduate of The Citadel, where he is enshrined in the Citadel’s Athletic Hall of Fame for his accolades in Baseball and Football.

On the field, the Buccaneers are led by second baseman, Trey York, who through 10 games this season has an amazing .571 batting average and has hit five home runs and scored 29 RBIs. Four of York’s teammates are also hitting over .300 on the season; Right Fielder Zach Thompson (.371), Third baseman Chris Cook (.378), First Baseman Kevin Phillips (.341), and Catcher Hagen Owenby.


The Mountaineers are led offensively by shortstop Taylor Munden, through 10 games this season Munden is hitting .405 with 6 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 9 RBI. Both 3rd baseman Justin Fox and Kyle Davis are hitting .333 on the season, and have combined for 6 doubles, 13 runs scored, and 7 RBI.
