Late last night, the Mountaineers added a huge piece to their 2020 recruiting class with the addition of Canarsie (N.Y.) high school running back Lamy Constant.
Constant is an especially significant pickup, as he was focused on as a primary target since the Neal Brown staff took over, with running backs coach Chad Scott being the main-recruiter.
Constant marks the Mountaineer’s highest-rated recruit in the upcoming class thus far, listed as a 4-star recruit by Rivals and ESPN. He is also the 197th best player in the country according to the ESPN 300, and the 2nd best player in the state of New York.
While narrowing his list down to LSU, Texas A&M, Michigan State, and the Mountaineers last June, he announced his decision to play for the Neal Brown via Twitter and Instagram last night.
Next season Constant will join redshirt-senior Martell Pettaway, redshirt-junior Alec Sinkfield, junior Leddie Brown, and redshirt-freshman Tony Mathis on the depth chart as he looks to make an immediate impact in the backfield for the Mountaineers.
According to 247Sports.com, Constant is West Virginia’s highest-rated running back commitment since the 2014 class.
Constant is the 13th commitment in the 2020 recruiting class and joins Chris Mayo and Charles Finley as players headed to Morgantown from the state of New Jersey.
