Mountaineers Rank No. 13

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 11, 2020) – After sitting just outside the top 15 last week, the West Virginia University volleyball team jumps back into the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Rankings at No. 13, which was released on Wednesday.

Without full participation from the conferences, the AVCA is releasing only the top-15 teams each week instead of 25. The Mountaineers are one of four Big 12 teams ranked inside this week’s poll.

WVU (7-5) most recently claimed a pair of wins over Iowa State last week, winning in five sets on Nov. 6 and three sets on Nov. 7. With the wins, WVU has won a program-best seven conference matches and earned a season sweep over ISU for the first time in program history.

Big 12 foe Texas ranks No. 1, WVU’s next opponent, followed by Kentucky at No. 2. Baylor, Florida and Notre Dame round out the top five.

Louisville and Georgia Tech sit at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, while Missouri ranks No. 8. Pitt checks-in at No. 9, followed by Kansas State at No. 10.
West Virginia (7-5) will close its home fall slate with a two-match series against No. 1 Texas (12-0) on Nov. 12-13. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m. ET inside the WVU Coliseum.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting or calling 1-800-WVU GAME to avoid lines at the gate on game day. All tickets are reserved in blocks, ranging from one to six seats, and socially distanced. When purchasing tickets, the system will allocate the best seats available based on the quantity selected. Facemasks will be required of all spectators entering the arena and should be worn at all times,

Both matches will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. For more information, or to sign up for the digital platform, visit
