MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 1, 2021) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (18-4, 12-4 Big 12) checked in at No. 20 in the latest Associated Press Top-25 Poll, announced Monday.
The Mountaineers received 199 points to rank No. 20 in the poll this week. WVU is behind No. 19 Oregon (13-7) and in front of No. 21 South Dakota State (21-2). Baylor (19-2, 14-1 Big 12) is the other Big 12 team featured in this week’s poll and moved up to No. 6 this week, with 604 points.
West Virginia has now ranked in the AP Top 25 for the last six weeks, the longest stretch since a season ago when WVU ranked inside the top 25 for seven weeks in a row.
Next up, the Mountaineers travel to Manhattan, Kansas, on Wednesday, March 3, for a showdown against Kansas State. Tip-off against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with Brian Smoller and Missy Heidrick on the call.
