Press Virginia once again did what they do best: created many turnovers (31) and tallied 18 steals. Seventy-three fouls were called in this game with 61 free throws shot by the Knights.

Coach Bob Huggins had many positive things to say about the new talents on the team after Thursday’s victory. “…I thought our freshmen really stepped up and played well. I thought our young guys gave us great minutes.”

Freshmen Esa Ahmed had 17 points, James Bolden with 13 and Lamont West tallied 10 points for West Virginia.

Coach Bob Huggins continues to believe that this pre-season tournament has been really good for his team. They will be returning to campus on Saturday evening just before classes begin on Monday, but first the team will be spending some bonding time in the Bahamas.

“This trip was great and I think it was a great experience for them,” added Huggins. “We are going to go on a boat tomorrow and go snorkeling. The people have been wonderful here and treated us very well. This has been a good experience for our guys.”
