West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons has resigned according to WV Metro News.
The news comes after a report from Pete Thamel of ESPN on Saturday saying, Lyons’ future with WVU could be in jeopardy.
Lyons has been in this position since 2015. A Parkersburg, West Virginia, native and graduate of WVU, Lyons was responsible for hiring head football coach Neal Brown and giving him a contract extension following the 2020 football season.
According to WV Metro News, WVU is going conduct a national search to find Lyons’ replacement.
The report added, Brown’s status is still undecided until the end of the football season.
According to Thamel, Rob Alsop, WVU’s Vice President for Strategic Initiatives will serve as the interim athletic director.
So if Brown wins out the season please give him another chance, I really think he can do it with right people supporting him!
