The final Saturday of the NFL Preseason can be a joyous occasion for many men realizing their dream of playing in he NFL and it can be heartbreaking for the 700+ who will be looking for a job after getting released by their respective teams.

The 4:00 pm ET deadline for roster cuts has come and gone. Here’s a look at what happened among WVU Pros.

  • The Eagles released ILB Najee Goode. Head coach Chip Kelly said that he was the last player cut. The team is loaded at linebacker in terms of depth. The team had tried to trade him before the deadline but couldn’t work out a deal. He will not be a free-agent for long.
  • Mario Alford made the final roster for the Bengals.
  • The Chargers released Dreamius Smith. I wouldn’t be surprised if they brought him back as a member of the practice squad if he clears waivers. Smith tells us he will join the team’s practice squad.
  • UDFA Quinton Spain┬ámade the Titans final roster as a reserve offensive lineman. They love his size and ability to play inside and outside.

Rosters will be fluid over the next couple of days as teams scan the waiver wire. Players like Goode and Smith could find themselves heading to a new city and others who made the team may get replaced should a FA tickle someone’s fancy.

Should anything change, we will let you know.

Teams can begin signing players to their practice squad after 1 PM EST on Sunday.
