MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – (November 16, 2020) — NCAA Senior Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt announced on Monday morning that the March Madness tournament will take place in one city.
The front-runner to host the event will be Indianapolis. The NCAA will announce on January 1st to confirm the city.
Rumor is also that Mackey Arena (Purdue), Hinkle Fieldhouse (Butler) and Assembly Hall (Indiana) will be used as well as venues. The guess is that Lucas Oil Stadium (Colts) or Bankers Life Fieldhouse (Pacers) will be used towards the end of the tournament.
Gavitt mentioned that the NCAA plans to have the full 68-team tournament in March of 2021. He also told the committee to use the same formulas to determine the at-large tournament teams.
Teams will not be allowed to leave the hosted city until the entire tournament is over.
