Newest Mountaineer Speaks To BGS

Jacob Long wasn’t a very familiar name to the WVU recruiting front but after a surprise visit to the campus earlier in the month, he’s now the newest member of the WVU family and he couldn’t be happier. “Everyone just made me feel like a part of the family during the visit and I’m excited to be joining the WVU family.”

Long, 6’0 180lbs. cornerback from Hamilton Township, was a Purdue commit up until this week when he decided that WVU was where he wanted to play. “I felt really good about the way I would fit into their defensive scheme and how it appeals to defensive backs. It’s sets up more chances to be an impact player and allows me to be on the field more.”

While the WVU scheme was a selling point to Long, there were plenty of other factors in his decision including a certain coach. “I really like talking to coach Mitchell during my visit. His character was very impressive plus we share the same musical interest, gospel.” He also walked away very impressed with the WVU campus as a whole. “The campus is beautiful and the way the coaches and players welcomed me during my visit stood out to me as well.”

Jacob Long might have been a unknown prospect up until Monday night but he is now ready to represent Mountaineer Nation. “My dream is to play where I can become a better player, person, and teammate and I feel that WVU is that place.”
