The West Virginia football team has used the Lackawanna Community College pipeline to bring some stars to Morgantown and that trend will continue into the 2017 class with CB Alex Woods, who committed to WVU this evening after a visit this weekend.

Woods, 6’2 180 lbs. cornerback from Durham (NC), will give the Mountaineers some much needed depth at the cornerback position after this season. Woods was named to the 2nd team All-NEFC last season behind first team Kyzir White. As a high school senior, Woods was named to the PAC 6 All first team along with teammate Donte Thomas-Williams, who was dismissed from WVU earlier this summer.

Woods was considering the top corner for Lackawanna last season and will probably be asked to take a similar role next season for the Mountaineers given their need. Woods said that he just felt at home during his visit and that’s what led him to commit this evening.

Woods joins Kyzir White and Ka’Raun White on the roster from Lackawanna. Look for the WVU coaching staff to continue to use this pipeline in the future.
